On Friday, October 27, 2017, The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) hosted the Opening Night of TEFAF New York Fall. The Opening Night offered The Society’s members and New York’s most notable collectors, philanthropists and leaders in fashion and design an exclusive preview of the fair’s sensational pieces before it opened to the public the following day. Bringing 93 renowned specialist dealers to participate in its second annual edition, TEFAF New York Fall focused on fine and decorative art and jewelry from antiquity through the early 20th century.
“The Opening Night of TEFAF is my first major event as the new president of The Society of MSK,” said Jamee Gregory, who was recently appointed. “This fabulous event brings together the best of art and philanthropy, supporting the important fundraising initiatives at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I’m so honored to be a part of it.”
Proceeds from the Opening Night benefited The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s patient care, research, and education programs at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as well as the acclaimed cultural programs produced by the Park Avenue Armory. Generous underwriting support for the evening was provided by Fiona and Stanley Druckenmiller. The event was also sponsored by Natura Bissé.
“When we first announced TEFAF would be coming to New York, dealers, collectors, and art enthusiasts wondered how the TEFAF experience would translate in a very different city and venue,” noted Michael Plummer, Managing Director of TEFAF New York. “We have been amazed by the positive feedback and can’t thank The Society of MSK enough for their ongoing support in continuing the momentum from the first two New York fairs.”
